Covid Update from Mrs Tuffley

23.11.20

Good afternoon,

We have now been made aware of two cases of COVID19 within our teaching staff over the past two days. Both cases have had impacts on 2 of our classes resulting in children and staff needing to isolate for 14 days.

Emails have been sent to parents/carers explaining the situation and what to do and when to seek a test. Please keep checking for email updates and make sure you advise  the office of any change of contact details for your child.

We now have 9 members of staff who are off with COVID related issues (either positive tests, isolating due to contacts or shielding).  This is almost half of our staff which has given us quite a few challenges in a very short space of time. Thank you to Chestnut class parents for being so prompt and calm when we had to close the class today.

By way of an update, this is where we currently stand:

Year 6 – 13 children isolating and due back in school on Monday 7th December

Year 5 – 20 children isolating and due back in school on Monday 7th December

Year 2 – 10 children isolating and due back in school on Tuesday 8th December

Year 1 – 16 children isolating and due back in school on Tuesday 8th December

Year 3, 4, reception and Willow 3 year-olds and older – children can attend school as normal.

As this situation changed rapidly within the space of a few hours today I am sure this will continue to be the case for a while.  We are not alone in facing this health crisis, but that doesn't make it any easier for all staff and children to deal with; for so long it has seemed quite far away and school does feel quite strange and quiet now.

All home learning is on the school website: go to your child’s class page and you will find links to White Rose maths, English and other activities and KS2 can also use maths and spelling shed. When your child returns send them in with all of the learning they have completed. Please do keep in touch with your child’s class teacher on Dojo and they will also contact you this week to ensure you and your children are all okay.  If there is anything we can do to help please ask, if you need home learning printed and posting to you please inform the class teachers or in the case of Beech and Chestnut please contact me.

I will continue to update you when I get more information but for now thank you and take care and I really hope we can all get through this together.
