Covid Update from Mrs Tuffley 26.11.20

Good afternoon,

During this week we have had three cases of COVID19 within our staff. All cases have had impacts on 3 of our class bubbles resulting in children and staff needing to isolate for 14 days.

Emails have been sent to parents/carers explaining the situation and what to do and when to seek a test.

We now have 13 members of staff who are off with COVID related issues (either positive tests, isolating due to contacts or shielding).  This is over half of our staff which has given us quite a few challenges in a very short space of time. By way of an update, this is where we currently stand:

Year 6 – 13 children isolating and due back in school on Monday 7th December

Year 5 – 20 children isolating and due back in school on Monday 7th December

Year 2 – 10 children isolating and due back in school on Tuesday 8th December

Year 1 – 16 children isolating and due back in school on Tuesday 8th December

Holly R – 12 children and due back in school on Wednesday 9th December

Willow nursery to re-open Wednesday 9th December

Year 3 and 4 – children can attend school as normal as Pine class remains open at this time.

Yesterday I met with Gloucestershire Health Protect team and I shared our in school control measures, which they were happy with. They said the cases we have had have been quite unusual in that we had 3 in 3 days which doesn’t follow a usual infection pattern.  The actions they have suggested have been incorporated into our school day and are already being followed by staff.

If your child does develop symptoms please book a test and inform the school office of any results as this is important for monitoring the spread of the disease.

All home learning is on the school website: go to your child’s class page and you will find links to White Rose maths, English and other activities and KS2 can also use maths and spelling shed. When your child returns send them in with all of the learning they have completed. Google meet video calls will be arranged for each class so that your child can check in with different members of staff to talk about learning and share how they are feeling. Also, keep in touch with your child’s class teacher on Dojo. If there is anything we can do to help please ask.

I will continue to update you as I have more information but for now take care and thank you for your support.
