Welcome
Willow Nursery is the Pre-School Class at Drybrook School. Our friendly and approachable staff have a wealth of experience in childcare and teaching and provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for the children.
All the children at Willow are taught to express themselves and to respect themselves and others. We have amazing facilities at Willow, and we are dedicated to our jobs as role models to each individual.
The new classroom, decking and garden all provide areas of learning that cover the Early Years curriculum...
• Personal Social & Emotional Development
• Physical development
• Communication & Language
• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding the World
• Expressive Arts & Design
We also have scheduled music time, storytime, phonics practice and circle time where we chat about the children’s news and feelings.
All equipment is assessable to the children to stimulate learning and encourage independence through choice. Our planning is “child-centred” to ensure the activities are based on the children’s individual interests and abilities.
Once settled, each child is allocated a Key Worker. This is the member of staff with whom they develop a strong bond, as this helps their transition to class. Each Key Worker supervises the child’s learning and records their development.
Our learning area extends from the classroom to the decking and garden, where the children have access to a ‘mud kitchen,’ role play areas, balancing logs, cars & tractors, slide & see-saws, water & sand play and free building equipment. This area enables all children to learn in different environments and to extend their learning through a variety of stimulus.
The children also have access to the large school field, playground and Forest School areas. This not only provides varied and stimulating play but also enables a seamless transition into the main school. The older children eat in the school hall once a week and visit the reception class to aid this transition too.
